Air Gus Moves

In honor of National Dog Day which came and went this past week, I thought I would share some pictures of my grandpuppy Gus. He is the most amazing grandpuppy ever. All grandparents of grandpuppies say that don't they?

Look at this quiet little puppy with the wrinkled ear...

Wait until you see him play Frisbee with Riley.

Ready, Set, Go!

Nice job Gus! Great moves!

But then Gus zigged when he should have zagged and I got this shot of his air move.

I call out, "Whaat do you call that move, Gus?"

Gus' eyes say, I'm thinking, I'm thinking...Maybe Hang Dog?

Not sure what you call this move either. Gus is making them up as he goes...

Woops. He's looking a bit frustrated.

Ten-year-old Ike isn't impressed with Gus' energy or air moves.

Another great catch!

Yaay!

The audience consisted of us adults and other canines - Ike and Bear.

Great Job, Gus! Can't wait to see you grow and enter Frisbee competitions!

Just make sure you tell Grandma where and when. :)

Camping!

Three years ago, Steve and I bought our first kayaks. Last year we upgraded our fishing boat from Two-Buck Duck to a Lund (a much safer ride on the big lakes and the St. Mary's river). This year we upgraded to a much larger tent, one we had had our eye on for the past three years. It's big enough for us and our livestock - Ike and Bear, and even a kitchen sink if we weren't rustic camping. Ha.

I haven't downloaded all of my pictures from my camera yet, but here are a few from my phone.

Our campsite was on an inland lake near the Lake Superior shoreline and this is where we had our morning coffee.

We took the dogs to Lake Superior the one day it hit 92 degrees.

We sat in awe on the shoreline of our campsite as amazing sunsets unfolded before us.

Our tent.

The front has a screened in porch.

Back view.

Well, this is just a sampling of our little trip. We went kayaking, fishing, four-wheeling, swimming and road trippin' to Grand Marais and Lake Superior.

But it is amazing how much laundry piles up in one week's time.

Gotta go...my dryer's buzzing!

Wading the River

This post is for my oldest son who has been working in the sweltering heat of Oklahoma. During a recent phone conversation, he said, "Mom, I miss the dogs. Send me some pics."

Boy, do I have pics!

So, if your a little tired seeing pictures of our Ike and Bear, you may want to skip this post.

Oh, and don't worry about Ike's owie on his hip. He got himself one of those hot spots but we took him to the vet and he is healing fast and well. He's just not looking his best these days...

Believe it or not, one day last week it was sweltering hot in the UP. Steve said, "Let's go wade in the river."

So we loaded up the dogs and we did.

They would wade awhile, rest on the riverbank,

(Ike, you have a bug on your nose.)

primp one paw...

then the other,

snap at bugs,

then take a little snooze.

I thought geesh, you guys aren't taking advantage of this awesome hot summer day. You need to wade in the river.

So I got out their organic puppy treats, and that got their attention.

Naw, I had some little stale crackers I took along for just this reason.

They like it when we throw one like a frisbee into the water. We try to get them to go a little deeper, but they usually will let those pass by and flow down the river.

I'm ready!

I'm ready!

And then we got a little rain shower and the dogs thought they were going to melt, so we quit.

I Love my dogs!
