Yellowstone National Park - The Hot Springs

I'm Back!

Back from Wyoming and back to posting on this here blog. I have so many pictures to share. Wyoming was beautiful and adventurous as ever, but it feels good to be back in the UP. I am finally unpacked and have my vegetable gardens planted and my flower gardens weeded.

Now on to Yellowstone...

Above and below are pictures of the various hot springs in Yellowstone National Park. We visited last month and had a super great time touring.

The mist/steam smells strongly of sulfur and I held my sweatshirt against my nose because at times it was downright nauseating! But pretty cool to see at the same time. Steve is a trooper - the smell didn't bother him.

Now, do you see all the walking boardwalks in place for our safety? The signs read something like "Stay on the Boardwalk at all times. Extremely hot areas. Injury as well as death have occurred."

Now WHY would you WANT to stroll off the boardwalk and walkways?

But people do.

I'm not trying to take or make my dear readers down here. I just want to get the information out there that people NEED to follow the rules for their safety, the safety of the animals, the safety of the environment, and for the awesome opportunity we are given to visit this amazing park full of wildlife and wonders of nature! It has had me in an uproar shaking my head every time I hear another sad story coming from the park.

In case you haven't heard about the latest stories coming out of Yellowstone, here's a link to bring you up to speed. Yellowstone News

Steve reading the rules.

I'm taking pictures of oozing boiling stuff that stinks. (Remember, I have a zoom on my camera.)

Oh, how I love turning around and seeing a pair of Mountain Bluebirds!

Now to the pictures I took. More hot springs in the distance,

Thank goodness I can zoom in on this Bison resting near the warmth of the hot spring.

A hot pond

More boiling bubbles

I can hardly see the buffalo through the steam. Eventually I walked out of it.

There he is.

Makes me wonder if the animals ever get too close.

More across the way down by the river.

It is really a special place in my heart, being able to wander amid the wildlife and natural wonders of this place. I hope they don't start putting up fences and such. Keep those fines high and maybe by hitting one's pocketbook people will say ouch and follow the rules!

More pictures to come but no more ranting. I promise. :)
